At the end of 2006, I visited Fr. Gerry Shanley in Reynosa, Mexico. Spending a night there in his house, experiencing his parish, and his ministry to the people who live in what is known as the barrio put me in touch with the people Mother Teresa called “the poorest of the poor.” Fr.
